Climate Justice Movement Launch at Tangaza University
On November 18, 2023, the Uniservitate Africa Regional Hub hosted the ‘Uniservitate Africa Climate Justice Movement Launch,’ at Tangaza University College under the theme ‘Africa Hub Climate Actions and Wellness for a Better Future.’
The morning kicked off with a spirited mass bike ride around universities in Karen, uniting participants in a symbolic gesture of commitment to climate action: Ride Bikes to Reduce Carbon Emission. The Creative Arts showcase followed, where students expressed their perspectives on climate justice through presentation of their diverse and inspiring works of art, each addressing the critical link of Climate Justice and Service Learning. The categories for creative arts included: Poetry, Painting, Spoken Words, Music, Short Films, and Animation.
A highlight of the event was the Green Cup Tournament, a spirited competition symbolizing the collective effort to kick out climate injustices in Africa. Students from different schools; School of Theology, School of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Education, engaged in friendly competition, embodying the spirit of unity and purpose in the fight against environmental challenges.

Dr. Alice Kaudia, former Environment Secretary, graced the occasion as a guest speaker, delivering a speech on climate actions. Her insights provided a valuable perspective on the importance of individual and collective efforts in addressing climate challenges.
The afternoon featured an enlightening panel discussion, with experts from the Laudato Si Africa Movement, National Youth Caucus Kenya, Buffalo Bicycles, Tangaza Justice and Peace Commission, and Pristine Sustainable Ecosystems. Their diverse insights contributed to a rich dialogue on climate justice and sustainability, inspiring attendees to consider new avenues for positive change.
The day concluded with a tree planting session, symbolizing a commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. The Uniservitate Africa Climate Justice Movement Launch was a powerful call for action, motivating the society to strive for a better, healthier future for Africa and the planet.
