Empowering Leaders through Service Learning
On 18th January 2025, the Uniservitate-Africa Regional Hub office hosted an inspiring Service Learning Seminar for the Tangaza Justice and Peace Commission under the theme:
“Empowering Student Leaders as Change Agents in Connecting Knowledge and Theory to Community Practice.”
The seminar focused on the powerful connection between Service Learning and Leadership, equipping participants with practical skills to promote greater service to the University, the Church, and society.
Participants explored how Service Learning aligns with Tangaza University’s motto, “Teaching Minds, Touching Hearts, and Transforming Lives,” and how it fosters leadership rooted in justice and community engagement. The session highlighted impactful community projects led by the Commission, showcasing the integration of academic knowledge with real-world practice.
Interactive discussions during the seminar allowed participants to reflect on their role in advancing community engagement. Key ideas included:
- Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns on peacebuilding, environmental sustainability, and social justice.
- Collaborative Projects to build partnerships with local communities and other departments.
- Leadership Training and Mentorship Programs to empower peers and foster community-driven initiatives.
The seminar inspired participants to embrace Service Learning as a bridge between knowledge and action, reinforcing their commitment to leadership and societal transformation.
