About The Competition

Tangaza University College is committed to academic excellence, training for servant leadership, the personal transformation of its students, and social transformation of the society. In so doing TUC has become a Centre of excellence and innovation for transformative ministerial learning and praxis for social transformation.

It is in this context that the Service-learning Challenge 2020 is being held in order to recognize and award projects run by our Alumni and ongoing students who clearly demonstrate how they are applying the knowledge gained from Tangaza to impact their communities positively through their respective projects.



  1. Must be an Alumni or ongoing student of Tangaza University College or an affiliate Institution e.g in Huruma, Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kitui.
  2. Have an Impactful viable Project
  3. The Project is running and is duly recognized/ Registered by the local authorities
  4. The project is committed to creating Social, Environmental and Financial Impact
  5. The project contributes towards at least one of the Social Development Goals ( SDGs)


How it Works

  • Organizations Apply

Eligible projects submit their entries by 10th December 2020 11.59 p.m.

  • Finalists Selected

A team of jury and our partners will review applications and select 10 finalists on the 11th December 2020

  • A Short Video

The 10 finalists, will be given 3 days to come up with a short video describing what they do at their place of operation and submit by 15th December 2020.

  • Finalists Selected

A team of jury and our partners will review the videos and select 5 finalists on the 16th December 2020

  • Final Event and Winners Announced

All 5 finalists will be invited to pitch their ideas to our panel of Judges at a final event. The Judges will select three Challenge winners from these finalists.
